Dang I haven't posted in forever! I stayed off the computer for a while because I was studying for finals, and then because I was busy hanging out with friends for the last time. It was sad saying bye to all the summer people who left... :(
A LOT of stuff happened but I'll just keep it short since I'm on my cousin's computer at her house. After moving out of Vabien, the hotel residency, some of my friends and I were supposed to get a hotel room together to stay in for a week or so and just mad play, but it being peak tourist season, we couldn't find anything in our price range. I ended up going to my cousin's a week early than planned, which wasn't that big a problem,considering some of my friends didn't have any relatives to save them. Plus she lives about an hour away by subway from inner Seoul, so it's not impossible for me to go out and meet friends. I felt really guilty because I moved in on Friday and didn't sleep in the house til Sunday night hehehehe :[ Since public transportation cuts off around midnight until 5 am, it's either go home early that night, or really early the next morning.
So that last weekend with friends was packed with bars, clubs, karaoke, watched Dark Knight, went to Coffee Prince cafe (location of a famous Korean drama - overpriced and overrated, don't go), and final dates with my favorite girls haha. Pictures to come later.
I really love staying at my aunt's because my aunt and uncle are both so nice and chill and my cousin's just cool and amazing. She's 25 and a 4th year because she spent a year abroad in China and 6 months in the Philippines. We talk about cultural differences between Korea and foreign countries and both agree that Korea is way too stressful! We can't put our finger on what it is, but the general atmosphere is very pressuring and you feel like you need to be doing something and doing it very quickly! I told her to come to California where it's laid-back and relaxed ^^ So I'm staying here until mid-next week, then going to Chungju for a couple days, coming back for the weekend, and then moving into my new residency for the fall semester. I changed my mind from Casaville to DMC because I found out that Casaville is actually a very far walk from campus anyway so it wouldn't make much of a difference. DMC is cheaper and has much nicer facilities! Again, pictures to come!

Exciting Predictions
Man I'm really bad at making post titles. So today I met up with Eunjung and Narae at Insadong around 5 pm. We went to a saju cafe, which is where you can order some coffee or tea (we got patbingsoo) and a man will tell you not exactly your future, but stuff you can expect to happen or avoid, etc. based on your birthdate and time through the characteristics of zodiac animals and Chinese belief-seeming-like-things. I didn't know my time so maybe that's why some of the stuff he told me about myself (he also tells you about your personality) was wrong. But it was really cool and amazing since for the most part he told us a lot of right things about ourselves.
Afterwards, we went to a mobile tarot cafe. Like, a cafe on wheels. Looks like a movie trailer or something. I wanted to take more pictures of the places we went to because they were all so cute but it was raining and I was holding an umbrella and my purse and we were running around huddled together... But yes I have heard some meaningful feedback that all I post are pictures of food and people and I will work towards changing that. Hahaha ^^;; So this place is different because the tarot man will tell you about the one topic you want to hear, such as love life, money, career, etc. whereas the saju cafe is much broader and talks generally about your entire life. Naturally all of us wanted to know about love! So what happens is he shuffles his big tarot cards a bunch of times, and you pick 1 or 2 depending on what he tells you to do. He lays out 7-8 more cards in a diamond shape and you flip the top one. He flips the rest. Depending on what cards they are and what direction they turn over in (upside down or not) will tell you about when you can expect to meet him (maybe this summer and at the latest, October! This must mean my eyes turn out pretty xDDD), if he is a stranger or not (an acquaintance, or someone whom I've at least seen around already before), where he's from (somewhere North.. Norcal? Berkeley?!), a little bit about his personality (quiet. hm.), our prospects (a long, happy, peaceful relationship without many fights or complications. sounds like my ex), and some stuff to watch out for - for example, he told me that I have my guard up (it was crazy, a card with a picture of a lady holding two swords crossed in front of her came out) but I need to stop worrying and meet guys freely. Which is true because I've been thinking that I don't really want to get into a relationship and get super attached, because what will happen when I have to go back to America? Maybe it will be an EAP student?? I don't know... It was still exciting to hear this stuff though, whether it's true or not ^0^
Then we went to meet up with Eunjung's friend Sung-woo and his friends (who are 2,3 years older than us)- the "meeting." One guy was in the army, another is in med school, and two work in companies. They all went to KAIST or Seoul University, so/and they are all smart and rich, which we could tell by the way they played and spent their money. One looked like a "little person" (honestly, possibly 5'3" or 4") and another like a 40 year old man. Sung-woo oppa was really nice and had a great personality, but he's the kind of guy you only get platonic feelings for. The army guy was the tallest, funniest, and cutest. But that's not saying much considering the company. First of all, we hung out in Apgujung, which is a nice neighborhood- we went to a Japanese sake bar which didn't seem like the right place for young people. I'm sure it was expensive too. We tried to break the ice by playing drinking games and stuff, but it really didn't fit with the atmosphere of the place, so we decided to move to a more casual place. It was peak time though (11ish) so we had to wait a De Chocolate Cafe for a big table to open up for our party of 8 (another army guy joined later. He was cute too but his personality was so boring). We took pictures while we waited. (See the creepy midget guy in the middle picture. We all hated him because he was such a greaseball [I don't know how else to say neu-kkee-heh!] and had a staring problem).
So we moved to a more casual hof kind of place where we sweated our asses off because it was underground and it was packed! The stupid short guy ordered this dish where you grill it on the table so we were even hotter too. But it was loud and fun in there so that made us a lot less awkward. I learned a bunch of drinking games. Honestly we (the girls) didn't drink very much though because they let us take "water shots". Again, I was so down to drink more because I was not even buzzed but Narae was tipsy (extreme lightweight. We make fun of her that she gets buzzed at the scent of alcohol) and Eunjung can't/doesn't like to drink very much. Then we got in taxis to go to Chungdam, the next neighborhood. We went to those karaoke places you see in dramas! The ones with the long rectangular table in the middle and seats along the three walls around it and a really big screen in the front. It was really, REALLY nice. All the workers are in dress shirts, ties, and slacks, all black and white, and the guys drank whiskey and beer and ordered a huge fruit anju platter (again, fruit is the symbol of wealth here. The fruit itself was probably $70-100, and obviously hard liquor is really expensive too). In the dramas all the thugs and rich bad guys hang out in these places and something illegal always happens!
Anyway it was fun there though because the guys sang a lot of funny song and danced around. We felt bad though because it seemed like they were trying really hard to give us a good time and be fun. It was kind of sad. They were trying so hard!!! Freakin short guy had the worst voice but kept singing too. Cute army boy is a great singer and dancer on the other hand ;] Anyway I hope we don't have to see these people again. Hehehe! Came home around 4 and now its noon and I'm ready to study!!

New Friends
The samgyupsal party was so much fun! There is a group of cute boys in our class who always sit next to us but never talk to us, and at the dinner they sat next to me and Eunjung (Narae couldn't come) and we finally got to know each other! It turns out they are all a year younger than us though, except one old guy who's like 5 years older -.- so after a few bottles of soju and baekseju, we became really friendly and now we are their nunas (older sister) loll. Oh yea I learned about oshipseju, where you mix soju and baekseju in a bottle and drink it like that so it's weaker. Baek = 100, and oship = 50, so it's like you cut it down by half. I hate the taste of soju and baekseju is just okay, so oshipseju was meh. I can't believe I got buzzed with my professor... I poured him a shot- I hope he gives me an A. Or at least a B... Anyway it was such a fun atmosphere and we both kind of wanted to stay, but we had to leave since we had plans to go clubbing with Eunjung's other friends. So we ran home, showered and got ready to go out and met up in Apgujung in about an hour.
We went to Answer, a really popular club famous for its hotties: waiters and customers. The waiters did look like models, but the customers... haha :] It was my first time going to a house music club, and I have learned to stick to hip hop! House is weird and techno-y. There were people doing some FUNKY ASS MOVES. And looking all proud about doing it too -.- I don't even know how to describe it.... A mix between raving and techno-popping?? The club itself was really nice though; Apgujeong is a nice neighborhood so the club was definitely a tier above the ones in the college town area of Hongdae that I usually go to ^^ But it was twice the price and not even half as fun because there were like NO people there for some reason! Seriously, the dance floor was half empty. Lame! No models or celebrities in sight >:O Her friend didn't bring anyone cute!! It was just his stupid younger friends because it was one of their birthdays, who was cute in a cutesy way, but so young looking and kept trying to hold my hand -.- He was pretty dorky. After we went to a really cute/nice bar (me and Eunjung drank so much this night! At dinner, the club, then here -.-) where the mood got really awkward because one of the guys started asking me if I knew so-and-so people at Berkeley, and he happened to mention one person I do know! So naturally I got excited and was like "wow what a coincidence! small world!" etc. but then he goes "i hate that f***er. are u close with him? is he in korea right now? i seriously wanna kill that @%&^%$#@@" Then he was in a bad mood all night and kept asking me those kind of questions, even though I told him that I haven't talked to him since I had a class with him in freshman year. Finally me and Eunjung left later. Not blatantly because of that, but it just wasn't fun so we smoothly made our exit. Damn. Well, the guy he was talking about really is a jackass (for those who know, the spring break drunk experience after which I quit alcohol until now) but still. I felt sorry for the birthday boy... I hate hotblooded Korean boys. And I hate them more when they're drunk! We should have just played with our new dongsengs (younger brothers).
Got home around 5 and woke up at noon, quickly got ready, and went too Shinchon with Melody to get her some cute fobby glasses ^^ I was planning on getting some too but I didn't like any there. After, I met up with Chaeyoung unni to go on our hospital consultations rounds. We had nengmyun (cold noodle soup..?) and bossam (sliced steamed pork that you wrap up in pieces of cabbage and sauce) for lunch and it was delicious! Plus I was starving since I hadn't eaten anything since drinks and a little anju the night before. I think I've decided on which hospital I want to go to :] Excited! Chaeyoung unni might get something done too, so she told me to just stay at her place during my summer break so we could just recuperate and hang out together! I love her. She's so nice and cool and I had been worrying about where to stay anyway ;]
I was supposed to go to Eunjung's friend's band's performance but I couldn't make it in time so I just ran home to shower and get ready and go clubbing with them. Her friend from Penn State is one of those bigger, heavyset guys who wear hip-hop style and have a really funny sense of humor. I love that kind of fat people! I liked him even more because he brought 2 cute friends :D Although one lives in Daejun (2 hours drive) and was just visiting (funny one who messes around and jokes a lot) and the other's in the army and was just out on break (hot one), so we probably won't ever see each other again. We went to a bar called Hazy in Hongdae and me and Eunjung had delicious kiwi soju while the boys drank regular and we had a lot of fun talking and got really comfortable quick because Daejun boy made a rule that whoever uses jondemal (formal talk) has to take a shot. I had to take like 3 because of that! Then we went to Ho Bar and the guys had a couple rounds of tequila shots. I wanted to drink more because I was hardly buzzed but I couldn't because Eunjung was hardly drinking since she already drank before we met and I didn't want to look bad haha ^^;; We ended up going to Quvo again and Daejun boy proposed that we play girls vs. boys against who can freak with the most random people throughout the night, and the losing team has to pay for whatever we decide to do next after we leave the club. I think I danced with like 12 guys in 2.5 hours! I hated the 3-minute rule (so that we don't just bounce after like 30 seconds) because some of the guys were so bad at dancing. All my effort went to waste because by the time we left it was raining and we were tired so we ended up just going home -.- But it was a lot of fun! So much better than Answer.
I really want to weigh myself and see how much weight I lost. The past 3 days of clubbing have to have done something!! Plus I keep waking up late and end up eating only 1 meal a day. If only if it weren't for the damn anjus! They are so good and go so well with alcohol!
